Happy 19th Anniversary, Umeya!
Last week, I was fortunate enough to attend Umeya's 19th Anniversary party. Umeya is our favorite Japanese restaurant near us and we have been patrons for 19+ years! We've known the owner and his family from the days before they opened the restaurant. I have essentially grown up here, so it was really wonderful to be able to celebrate 19 years of success with Umeya and their loyal patrons. The event was invite only and it was an amazing evening.
As always, the food at Umeya never disappoints, and this was no different. They put on the most wonderful of feasts. Sushi, sashimi, tako-yaki, grilled lobster, yaki tori, oysters, wagyu sushi…the list goes on. I felt like a kid in a candy store and I ate like there was no tomorrow.

There was a lot of sake, too!
The restaurant was packed and everyone eagerly jumped in and started feasting. Between the shabu-shabu and the sushi, the selection was astounding and everything was absolutely delectable.
The main event at the anniversary party was the blue-fin tuna demonstration. Umeya succeeded in ordering and flying in a giant blue-fin tuna from Japan and proceeded to slice it apart for all of us to watch. It was amazing --- like watching an artist at work. The tuna was ginormous and it was remarkable to see the ease at which Umeya-san separated the various cuts of meat. Although watching him take the tuna apart was fun and educational, being able to eat the freshly harvested meat was really memorable!

I cannot even begin to fully describe how much I enjoyed the party. We got to hang out with friends and eat some of the best food ever, what could be better? My dad brought a couple bottles of whisky and we quickly made friends with the other guests.

All I can say is, congratulations Umeya for your 19 years of success! Here is to another 19 years! I look forward to continuing to eating at your amazing establishment. I wish you lots of success, happiness, and prosperity!
